"Jumpcut" was originally produced in 1985, and has become a classic cult album. This is the record's first release on CD.
MAN JUMPING emerged from the big band "LOST JOCKEY" who were amongst the first to perform works by Steve REICH, Philip GLASS and Terry RILEY.
Produced by the band, Philip BAGENAL and the legendary Mike HEDGES, this CD features two new remixes and the two 12" club mixes of "Aerotropics" and "In The Jungle".
As well as playing at Ronnie SCOTT's and the Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, MAN JUMPING also wrote music and toured in the UK and Europe with London Contemporary Dance and Second Stride. Members of the band also worked with Steve REICH at the Almeida Theatre, London as part of REICH's 50th birthday celebration concerts.
Originally released on Bill NELSON's Cocteau Records, "Jumpcut" received considerable critical acclaim from both the music press and UK newspapers, and has recently been awarded a 4-star review in the Encyclopedia of Popular Music.
"The most important band in the world" Brian ENO
"This is both pop, serious music and enormous fun" -The Guardian
"I rate Jumpcut with John SURMAN's 'Withholding Pattern' and Ennio MORRICONE's 'Once Upon A Time In America' as the finest music hors categorie of the early 1980's" -The Times
"MAN JUMPING merge the exacting algebra of systems music with the warmth, wit and passion of dance music and, in their own small way, are revolutionary, unique. I adore this album" -Time Out
