There is a new member in the family of today's rock trios - SLANG. They have all the ingredients to be part of the family while remaining unique and personal.
The energy and the warm sound of François GARNY's bass (who played for many years with ARNO and was a member of Jack BRUCE's band) rivals in inventiveness with Les CLAYPOOL of PRIMUS. Through the diversity of his compositions, he shows us how the band's formula is inexhaustible and innovative.
Just as certain people have removed the strings from their bass, here it is the drums which have been transformed into a set of percussions, which allows for a much wider palette of sounds and gives Michel SEBA the opportunity of passing from a straight backbeat to more ethnic shades. A round-the-world trip all by himself.
The saxophonist/flutist Manuel HERMIA fills the role usually taken by the guitarist or keyboard player. Sometimes he underlines the bass or percussion when they do solos, and sometimes he himself is the soloist and takes up his preferred ground of improvisation.
The effect SLANG leaves is multi-directional - a language with varied sources and accents - Rock-Ethno-Coltranian.
