Cellist and conductor, Jean-Paul DESSY is also a talented composer.
The pieces of his first solo cello CD were written and played by him for the choreographic performance "Gradiva" by Nicole MOSSOUX.
This suite of compositions is more in an ensemble form which marries the movements of Nicole MOSSOUX perfectly, like a double reading without however giving a descriptive sense, and this respects the choreographer's approach and gives the public a free reign to create their own story.
Jean-Paul DESSY was a member of such groups as "MAXIMALIST!" and the "QUADRO QUARTET" with whom he already recorded an album of compositions by Walter HUS for CARBON 7.
He is also director of the contemporary music ensemble music "MUSIQUES NOUVELLES" and "L'ORCHESTRE ROYAL DE CHAMBRE DE WALLONIE". Consequently he has directed a great many concerts including a wide range of original works.
This CD is a personal touch and experience at the service of an unusual vision pushing the cello to its limits, towards a world of atmospheres.
