Kris DANE's second CD, "Boy, 26" is a tapestry of musical styles and emotions - dreamlike and sharp, nervous and soothing, with melancholic pieces next to powerful, funky, rock material - yet all fusing to make a unity, precisely because of its diversity - like a collage that takes its meaning from the way the components are proportioned to each other. "Boy, 26" is electric, uses sampling, drum'n'bass, scratches and experimentation, and is influenced by soul, funk and rock, but the album is original and doesn't fall into any category - it's not like anything you've heard before, and will appeal to a wide audience. And then there's the voice and its range - vital, dreamy, melodic and soulful, with a darker, threatening edge, like a humid day before a storm. The CD is essentially a solo album, with Kris DANE playing most of the instruments and intuitively building up the layers of music, but he is assisted on many pieces by guest musicians who all add their own accent (Stéphane GALLAND, Fabrizio CASSOL, Daniel ROMEO ...). "Boy, 26" is without doubt at the forefront of contemporary pop music.
