HARDSCORE, a group formed around the composer Frank NUYTS, is a blend of electric and acoustic instruments, and their music gives us the distinct impression of listening to a chamber orchestra. The group take on a complex repertoire - with orchestral writing very close to that of Frank ZAPPA - and master it faultlessly. Very few have succeeded so well in carrying off this mixture of ambition and surrealism. New music is clearly alive and well, and living in Belgium.
