This is her first recording ever, at 24, and she is taking her first steps as a professional artist. Listening to the songs, this is hard to believe, because everything she sings shows such maturity. She sings a repertoire of Portuguese and Brazilian songs, revisiting them to give them the "Fado" mood. It's like taking the routes of the Portuguese navigators backwards, taking some of the music from these countries to link them back to their original mould, and giving them the "Fado" form. It's a pure form of "world music" played and sung with grace and power - melancholy sublimated by a smooth and warm voice which takes the listener to deep levels of emotion. We're certain Lula PENA will become a reference in this style in the coming years.
