Pierre VERVLOESEM, having set the tone with 'Home Made' (his previous album), now invites us into his bathroom where the best and the worst are possible. 'Fiasco' is far more bare than 'Home Made'. A gruff rhythm moves on undauntedly and themes emerge assertively. The novelty is that the musical style is noteably different from the preceding album. The ZAPPA side has actually disappeared to make room for a more up-to-date trend with more of a rock base. Some tracks are at times reminiscent of PIL or even KING CRIMSON. Being in the bathroom, it goes without saying that it is the ideal place for singing. Here, Thierry MONDELAERS comes on strong, soaring to new heights through the diversity and intensity of voices which he performs all by himself, as if there were several talented singers converging on the same repertoire.
